Mister Dog may not be the most politically correct book. Don’t believe me, look at the dog smoking on the cover of the book. But that’s what was so fun about life back in the 1950s, it wasn’t politically correct. This book is filled with a great message children need to learn. Read and find out.
Two Little Trains is not one of Margaret Wise Brown’s best works. It’s no Goodnight Moon, of course, but little boys will be asking for it to be read to them again and again and again. That’s almost a guarantee.

Scuffy the Tugboat is a typical “there’s no place like home” story or at its most diabolical, a treatise against the big bad unknown world. Great illustrations by Tibor Gergely accompany the bright and flowing text of Gertrude Crampton.
As with any picture book, lessons are often taught but not in such a way that a reader or a read(ee) feels like they’ve been the recipient of a lecture or a sermon. Take Nugget & Fang for an example.
