I’d slap myself if I didn’t ask you about Puppies and Tiaras. I love that woman Velma. She really was great and of course you sparkled. That short played on Animal Planet right? Can you tell us a bit about the filming and how it wound up in front of a national audience?
Velma is absolutely amazing. When she walked into the audition room we all knew she was going to be perfect as the character of Velma. Such a talented actress! “Puppies and Tiaras” (http://youtu.be/mdPZIiiA73U) is the first short film I directed and co-wrote. We filmed for five days all during magic hour because we didn’t have money for lights. After we wrapped filming it took me a few months to edit. I emailed Animal Planet telling them I think “Puppies and Tiaras” would be perfect for their network. I got an email back explaining they don’t take solicited emails. So I figured, I guess I will just put the short film on my YouTube page because the internet seems to be the new big thing of getting projects seen. After releasing the short online, I wrote to a bunch of big animal blogs explaining how I think writing a post of “Puppies and Tiaras” would fit great on their site. I was blessed enough that a few of the bigger animal blogs put us on their front page! A production company out of New York saw the posting and messaged me about a new show they were working on and they would love to put a few of the clips of “Puppies and Tiaras” in the show. I said yes, what network? They informed me, “ANIMAL PLANET!” I couldn’t believe it! We were all pretty excited even Gizmo!
Now just a quick round of multiple choice faves and preferences (elaborate if you want):
Ice cream or cake? Ice cream. Gizmo goes crazy for his ice cream!
Frank Sinatra or George Jones? Ooooh this one is a tough choice. Can I say a little bit of both!
Dogs or cats? Duh, never mind. Haha, moving on! J (But Gizmo does like cats!)
Wisconsin or Minnesota? Ah, this is tough too! I loved the country but the city is where my jobs are at. I like the fact in the country I have my own space. I don’t like people living right next to me where I can see them out my window. The city is a little noisy as well. But I do like the fact I can walk to the store instead of having to drive 20 miles to the nearest Wal-Mart. Gizmo likes to fly because we get to places quicker!
As a farm girl do you prefer John Deere or Minneapolis Moline tractors? John Deer and Gizmo agrees!
Acting, directing or writing? All three. I moved out here for the acting but always wrote as a kid and in school my teachers always told me I was a little bossy so I guess I fit in well with directing too!
Dream co-star? Adam Sandler!
Dream location to shoot a film? Wisconsin and Minnesota. I want to be able to bring my crew and cast with me back to my home area and film where it all started! Fingers crossed for season three of 2Fur1!
Best pizza in Hollywood? Papa Johns. Yup, I am still that country girl who keeps to their kind of Pizza they grew up with!

What a fantastic interview, Mr. Humek! Jahnna is so talented (and Gizmo too!)– I’ve been following her since she left our little hometown area and am very proud to know she is finally getting the attention she has earned and deserves. Go Jahnna!
